Dr Robin Youngson, the CoFounder of Hearts in Healthcare, is an internationally renowned keynote speaker and pioneer in the subject of compassion in healthcare.

He graduated from Cambridge University with an honours degree in Engineering, worked for three years in international oil exploration to save up for medical school, then graduated with honours in Medicine at Bristol University. He completed Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists before leaving the UK for a new life in New Zealand with his wife Meredith. Also a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, Robin has held consultant anaesthetist appointments at Auckland City Hospital, and North Shore Hospital.

Long involved in leadership roles, Robin was a founding member of the national Quality Improvement Committee in New Zealand and was the NZ representative on the WHO International Steering Committee for Patient Safety Solutions. He also helped launch the WHO strategy for “People at the Centre of Healthcare” in 2007. He is an honorary senior lecturer at Auckland University and is the author of the book “TIME TO CARE – How to love your patients and your job
